December 2010 Foxboro, MA
Advanced Mobility Device Securement Skills Development Workshop

T ransit Agencies have the responsibility to provide safe transportation and respect the civil rights of all passengers, including those who use mobility devices. In order to fulfill this responsibility, MArtap, along with the National Transit Institute (NTI) offered a two-day certification workshop on December 6 & 7, 2011 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. It is with great pleasure that we congratulate the following attendees on their successful completion of this course.

The two-day workshop presented and demonstrated problem-solving skills for securing powered mobility devices and allowed participants to practice the skills with peers. Participants who successfully completed this course will receive a NTI issued certificate and will be able to discuss federal requirement regarding securement and seat belt use, list pre-trip preparation tasks, identify mobility device securement equipment, determine effective strap securement locations on powered mobility devices and recognize how proper body mechanics and exercise can reduce the risk of on-the-job injuries.

Special thanks to Kelly O’Day at Ultimate Mobility, 1158 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603-2011 for the use of the mobility devices during this training.

Recertification of this course is recommended every three years.

Congratulations to the following participants.
